History of Spains Wars of the Caribbean
The Spanish wars in the Caribbean and South America permanently changed history for everyone in the area. It is not well known to those in Barbados and other Caribbean islands, all of which were impacted by the Spanish occupation and the decades of wars with the British, French, and Dutch.
One of the most considerable impacts of the Spanish wars was the damage and displacement of native neighbourhoods, who were typically caught in the crossfire between competing European powers. Many indigenous people were forced into slavery or killed during the wars, decimating entire communities and cultures.
